A Little Dirt Never Hurt | Crate Paper Cool Kid | Sassy Scrappers

Hi everyone!

Today I am back with you to share a new design team layout  created for Sassy Scrappers using the Crate Paper 'Cool Kid' collection

The background paper I chose for this layout reminded me of dirt tracks and so it was perfect for this layout and photo of my eldest son playing in the dirt! There were some great embellishments included in this range for me to include on this layout!

I made good use of the 6 x 6 paper pad to create my title. I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut the title out but I used different coloured papers for different words making sure that there wouldn't be the same colours close together.

I loved creating this layout and thinking a little outside the box!

Make sure you check out the Sassy store where you can find all of the Cool Kid collection plus so much more too!

Happy creating!

Little Explorer | Crate Paper Cool Kid | Sassy Scrappers

Hi everyone!

Today I am sharing another cool boy layout created for Sassy Scrappers using the awesome Cool Kid collection by Crate Paper!

The Cool Kid collection is just so perfect for creating boy layouts! Whether it be an every day moment you are capturing or a major event, this collection has it all! This photo of my youngest son was taken by my older son when he was experimenting with my camera, we were waiting to go into the Tower of London this day and although the 'Little Explorer' title fits the story behind the photo, the photo itself doesn't show him exploring...it shows him just being his adorable self!

Also Oliver is not 8 years old in this photo, he is 6 but I wanted to include the pop of yellow to the right hand side since I had yellow in two other places on my layout. I am all about balance when I create a layout...I like to work in 3's and create a visual triangle as well.

I included the transparent aeroplane ephemera to the right of my photo to help disguise some of the busyness that was going on in the photo....I quite often do this.....just by adding an embellishment, you can help the focus stay on the subject front and centre.

I added a couple of wood veneer pieces from my stash to this layout, I like to add different types of embellishments as I like to achieve different textures on my layouts!
You can find the Cool Kid collection plus so much more in the Sassy store right now, so make sure to check it out!

Thanks for stopping by the Sassy blog today!

Traveler's Notebook Spread | August 2017 Main and Add-On Kits | Hip Kit Club

Hi everyone!

Today I am sharing something a little different for Hip Kit Club! I have wanted to give a Traveler's Notebook a try for a little while now, so I finally bit the bullet and did it!

I decided to start my Traveler's Notebook by using it for exactly that, to document some of my amazing travels from earlier this year!

I created my cover using one of the pretty papers included in the August 2017 Main Kit and Paper Add-On Kit. I watched a couple of YouTube videos to help with how to bind it, it was so super easy! I will certainly be making so many more of these!

I knew that I would have a photo on one side of the spread and the title on the other side. The exclusive Project Life cards in the August 2017 Project Life kit are the perfect pieces for layering both under my photo and the title. The bicycle PL card I trimmed down a little and I love how it holds my Pisa title created using the exclusive navy puffy alphabets from the August 2017 Main kit, they are always a favourite of mine!

One of the Maggie Holmes fabric bows from the Carousel collection was the perfect addition to the front cover of my TN. I simply attached it to the elastic using a safety pin!

The Pretty Little Studio tab and label die-cuts are a great size to add some more detail, I love that I could stamp the date stamp on the yellow tab on the left hand side! The large heart on my photo is also from that pack, I love the detail it brings to my photo along with the gold star layered on top.

I hope you are inspired to also give a different format a go just as I have?! Maybe you could try an 8.5' x 11' layout a try, or perhaps some cards or even a Traveler's Notebook?

Whatever you choose to create, you sure have some amazing product in the August 2017 Hip Kits to create with!

Thanks for stopping by my blog today!

Happy weekend and happy creating!

Dinoroar | Crate Paper Cool Kid | Sassy Scrappers

Hi everyone!

Today I am sharing another cool boy layout created for Sassy Scrappers using the awesome Cool Kid collection by Crate Paper!

There are lots of dinosaur references included in the Cool Kid collection and it just so happened that I had the perfect photo for this layout! My boys went to the Natural History Museum in London earlier this year and they LOVED it! They still talk about how awesome it was!
The dinosaur paper was a little bit busy to use the whole sheet so I decided to use just a vertical piece, I then built the remainder of the layout around the vertical paper.

I wanted to come up with a unique title for this layout, so using the puffy sticker words, I decided on Dinoroar....especially as they were the only letters left would make this title!

I love the dinosaur chipboard pieces from this collection and I was happy that both could be included on my layout!

I also used 2 of the Project Life 'Explore' flairs that I got from my kit this month, I love that Epic Day one, it is so fitting for this awesome day out my boys had with their grandparents and cousin!

You can find the Cool Kid collection plus so much more in the Sassy store right now, so make sure to check it out!

Harry Potter | Crate Paper Cool Kid | Sassy Scrappers

Hi everyone!

Today I am back with you to share a cute design team layout created for Sassy Scrappers using the Crate Paper Cool Kid collection!

My kids recently had Book Week at their school so my youngest son wanted to dress up as Harry Potter...doesn't he make a great Harry Potter? I think so ;)

This collection was perfect to document his Harry Potter costume! For the title, I downloaded the Harry P font from here, I then typed Harry Potter in my Silhouette software and cut it out of the grey star paper from the 6' x 6' paper pad.....I love how it turned out!

I added a few things that sort of go with Harry Potter like the beetle and the books chipboard pieces, the 'Young and Brave' banner piece, the Flight School ephemera piece and of course the famous lightning bolt!

I also added the 'Brave' puffy sticker and the lightning bolt flair button was perfect as well!

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog today! Make sure you check out the Sassy store for the Cool Kid collection plus more!

Happy creating!

Summer Fun | July 2017 Main and Add-On Kits | Hip Kit Club

Hi everyone!

Today I have a new design team layout to share with you created for Hip Kit Club using the July 2017 Main and Add-On kits!

This week, I was inspired by the sketch and created my layout based on it! We have a weekly sketch challenge over on our Facebook Member Forum where you could win $10 to spend in the Hip Kit Club store! So if you aren't already a member in our Facebook group, make sure you join in!

I created a very Summery layout again this week....I mean with all those gorgeous Summer things included in the July 2017 Hip Kits, how could you not?! I started out by adding some clear gesso and then some subtle mixed media to help ground some of the layers against the white background. I used some of the Shimmerz from the July 2017 Color kit plus a couple of watercolours from my stash as well!

My photo is a panoramic one I took with my phone and I love how it turned out...it was the perfect size to go with this week's sketch. I added some of the exclusive Project Life cards from the July 2017 Project Life kit under the photo for matting and used pop dots to raise it all up off the background.

I just adore that flamingo puffy sticker and he had to be included on this layout...I love the pop of pink he brings to that side of the layout. Underneath the flamingo I added lots of ephemera from the Amy Tangerine 'On a Whim' pack found in the July 2017 Main kit.

The clear palm tree sticker over on the right hand side needed something underneath it to raise the prongs up, so I used one of the wood veneer hearts as a pop dot, rather than a pop dot so it looked a bit cuter...I love how this looks! I love that I could use lots of bits and pieces on this layout by layering and tucking things in and around my photo!

I hope this inspires you to create with your July 2017 Hip Kits and to try our sketch this week!

Happy creating!
